Masala Vada

Makes 10-12 pieces
 
INGREDIENTS
½ Tcup- Split Black Gram Daal ( Hindi Term Dhuli Urad Ki Daal )
1 Tcup- Bengal Gram Daal ( Hindi Term Chane Ki Daal )
3 Nos- Whole Red Chilli
1 Tsp- Aniseed ( Hindi Term Sauf )
 
Other Ingredients
3 Nos- Green Chillies ( Finely Chopped )
1 Tbsp- Finely Chopped Ginger
A pinch- Asafoetida
8-10 Nos- Currry Leaves
1 No- Onion ( Chopped )
1 Tsp- Salt ( To Taste )
2 Tbsp- Finely Chopped Coriander Leaves
 
Oil For Deep Frying
 
METHOD
1. Soak both the Daals in Water for half an Hour.
2. Grind the Daals along with Red Chilli Powder. Grind the Daals in such a way that the Daal Granules show after grinding.
3. Add Aniseed,Green Chilli,Ginger,Asafoetida,Curry Leaves, Onion, Salt, Coriander Leaves to it and mix well.
4. Heat Oil in a Kadhai. Wet the palm of your left hand and then put a ball of Daal on it, flatten it and then slip it in the hot Oil.
5. Carefully fry all the Vadas in hot Oil till Golden Brown. Fry well on medium heat.
Drain well on a tissue.
6. Serve hot along with Sambhar and Coconut Chutney.
